Oh? Ok. Thanks.

That is how it was named on the official Umlives FWIW.

A few recent setlist corrections...

9/10 Catskill Chill should look more like:

Set One: Rocker (Part II), Smell The Mitten*, Intentions Clear > Walletsworth, Much Obliged** > Breathe, Domino Theory

Set Two: Nothing Too Fancy**$ > Puppet String, Der Bluten Kat > "Jimmy Stewart"$$ > Der Bluten Kat, Miami Virtue, Professor Wormbog > Partyin' Peeps, I Ran

Encore: 40's Theme

* with The Jetsons theme tease
** unfinished
$ with Stranglehold jam
$$ with lyrics

And there is definitely something being teased early in the IC jam, can't quite put my finger on it.

the tease you are hearing in IC is simple gifts

also the lyrical stew is actually golden years by david bowie being teased (BB is just singing random lines of lyrics from that song)

I mentioned this in the setlist thread, but haven't seen it fixed.  1/10 should have The Linear > Domino Theory.  Also I haven't listened to it yet but there's some sort of jam with vocals or cover in In The Kitchen.

Thanks, fixing now. And I noticed that too, with UMLive. Gonna ask around.

Looks like Kris sat in with some band call The Twin Cats yesterday.  Never heard of them but it sounds pretty good http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B3Pk2xWUUyg

Jake sat in with The Mantras last night.

Also I think it's worth noting the Jazz Odyssey > Partyin' Peeps from Buster's.  It's a solid 3+ minute intro before Peeps.

As Bobbwin mentioned in the JO Intro thread in UM discussion, the 2/3 DBK 2nd jam features There's No Crying in Mexico, without the pre-recorded intro.

Yes, thanks much. I think we decided to add it as a Note, a "jam."

Now that I've had a chance to re-listen and confirm, the JaJunk note from 2/17 should read:

** with Cowboys From Hell (Pantera), Walk (Pantera) and Seek & Destroy (Metallica) teases

Jazz Odyssey

used to mean a jam that wasn't pre-discussed, and was more organic than a "jimmy stewart"

Now it's used almost exclusively to name the yet unnamed jams (loose song structure usually based on a simple theme) that UM has started opening sets with.

Got it, yea had a set from Hauntlanta that had JO on it several places but I knew they played other songs than jazz odysey.  So it has to be an unnammed jam though to be a JO?

Jazz Odyssey is not the name of a song, but rather what they called "jams" at one point due to their affinity for the movie This is Spinal Tap

These used to be notated on setlists.  They are not so much written on setlists anymore unless they're just really long, or really awesome.

"Opening JOs" are those very basic progressions that are played to start sets.  Sometimes they get named see: Catshot, Nipple Trix, etc.  "Catshot" is still an "opening JO."  It just has a name now.  They are just launchpads from which to spur a little improv and get the juices flowing at the start of a set.  That's why they share a name with what was originally reserved for "organic jams."  This is when the term "Jimmy Stewart" was reserved for jams that were a little more though-out - ie bouncebacks.

Thanks guys, this makes a lot more sense now.  So just to be clear: I got a pic of the Hauntlanta set (10-28-2011) It reads "2nd set:1348>JO>end billy"  and then again toward the end of the set it says "MO>JO>End 1348 .  These are just mini jams inbetween songs and the JO is to remind them?

The JO or "Stew" is shorthand to, yes, remind the six of them (along with Chris, Jefferson, and Bob) that the band is planing to extend those transitions in some improvisational way. It does not necessarily mean that there is something pre-composed for those sections.

JWelsh, have an update to the 3/2/11 Madison setlist for you:

Visions of Parin contains a lengthy "Blues for Los Angeles" (Bill Frisell) jam. Don't know whether to call it a jam or a FTP, but its definitely there.
