3-5-11 Higgins

Can't stress how much I love this jam, I keep coming back to it. Kind of has a Triple Wide-ish spacey feel to it, so so smooth when it really gets going.

Hey ya'll, trying to hear more of the filthiest most raging jams they've ever done. What are some of your favorites?

Right now I've been spinning 12.31.11 Ocean Billy, can't get enough of that one. The recent Slacker from the Tab was perfect too.

Let's hear 'em! :2:
If you have not listened 10/28/11 hurtbird bath, do it

2008-06-06 Resolution

Put this one on for the first time in a long time last night.  WOW.

Still one of my most listened to pieces of improv by any band, ever.  Far and away the best Reso they have ever played, IMO.

Agreed, That first segment is arguably the best jam I have ever heard this band do, and is bar none the best Reso I have ever heard as well.

I just listened to this for the 1st time the other night... WOW!  Absolutely patient and beautiful, I can't believe how much time they take drawing it out and making it majestic.  Really surprised I had never heard it before.

This show is so fucking good. August, Crooked One, DBK are also worth checking up on.

4/28/06 Triple Wide.  It feels good.

Edit: just noticed this..

If the 4.28.06 Triple Wide hasn't been mentioned.

2.14.09 All In Time

This man knows what is up.  My favorite Triple Wide I've seen and my favorite All in Time I've seen.  I think that is the best AIT they have ever played.. that jam just doesn't let up.

It'd be close between the 7/1/11 AIT & that 2/14/09 AIT.  They both have really fluid rock jams that touch on a bunch of different themes.

Made to Measure 10/7/2009 from Traverse City, just one of those jams that puts a smile on my face every time I hear it. Staying with the Mantis theme, 2/9/12 Spires is also worth a listen.

I can't stop won't stop fluffing the No Comment from 8/7/12. Dirty nasty layer building with start/stops and unbelievable re-entries back into the jam. They pretty much had sex with this jam, is what I'm getting at

To each his own. I hated this live and it doesn't really hold up for me on tape. Ten minute noodlefest set eater.

Listened to 2/7/2004 at work today and the KaBump stew was doing it for me. Very smooth.

5/20/11 Hangout JaJunk, Wappy and Linear.  I didn't see or attend this show but the boys seem really loose in their playing.  Even the composed part of Wappy just seems smoother than normal.  And I just love this linear with the heavy section> so what tease, really good little set imo

7/26/07  Tribute To The Spinal Shaft

15+ minutes of great jamming.  Great keyboards and synths courtesy of Joel.  Lot of crazy shit going on in the last few minutes of that jam.

Kev showed me the 2012-02-17 Wellwishers the other day and all i could think was, "is this the best Wellwishers ever played?"  Wellwishers hasn't been opened up often but the improv in this one is relentless, especially at the very end with the surfer rock (?) interweaving guitar work (Jake more so).  the double bass behind those riffs bring it to another level.

I somehow managed to come back to the Denver show from last year, and idk if it's just me but I could definitely see UM using this Glory stew as a JO opener.  It just seems like a temp setter that could really seg into all sorts of different songs if they made some tweaks.  I guess you could say this for obviously all sorts of different yams, but just a random ass thought but for some reason it really stuck.
