only time will tell for sure, but my feeling right now is that 02-17-12 is the best UM show ive seen (of 17 or 18)... and probably one of the best shows in general I have ever seen.

I'm not sure if I like 5/30/09 or this Columbus show better. Both shows were loaded with improv.

After Philly i thought i saw a new UM, only to be shattered by the columbus show, lots of energy from the band and the crowd.
Real treat to see Eat, End of the Road, and so fortunate to catch my second RED! Especially nestled inside my first Nemo.

Had they played Ghetts at this show, woulda been perfect for me

I thought this was the best show of the weekend, and one of the best so far this year (I've listened to every one except 2/8 and 2/12). Stasik setlists are hit or miss but this one really delivered.

Calling Wellwishers the jam of the night is giving too much credit to WW IMO, it was really more like Jajunk > Junk stew > WW > Junk stew > Jajunk. I think there was even a short pause before they switched over to the driving funk in E. Not that it matters or anything, that's just the way I saw it happen. The written setlist was a lot different, at least 3 songs got cut from the end of the second set including CWI and Roulette. The Junk was just so huge that at some point they were like fuck it, let's keep jamming til we run out of time.

And I'm sorry but No Crying In Mexico is the worst name for a JO ever. It doesn't fit the song at all, and it sounds totally retarded. Just my two cents.

Oh yeah and Columbus crowds blow, fuck all those assholes. But somehow it caused UM to deliver so I won't complain.

After listening to this one again it is in my top 3 out of 22.  My top 3 being the 5/30/09 CBus, Hauntlanta night 2, and this being a close third.

The first set was great, being the first time I've caught an Eat or OoO.  Improv being spot on and the DBK>Red Tape>DBK was a great way to end the first set.

The second set highlight for me has to be the JaJunk>Wellwishers>JaJunk.  That was my first Wellwishers, and to say the least, I wasn't expecting that awesome jam.

I wondered if this was a Stasik setlist... oh and I cant speak for 2/12, but I was at 2/8 - ive seen 2/8 and 2/17 this year... 2/17 was like a different band compared to 2/8.  There were moments in 2/8, but 2/17 was basically 100% full of moments and they were all better.

interesting to hear songs got cut from set II, I wondered about that... they definitely made the right decision.

the Crying in MExico JO is the JO from 12/30/11 right?  Kind of wish the name somehow referenced that epic NYE run.

I haven't had the time to grab this show yet, (pms welcome), but I can't hardly wait to relive this one. What a great night in Cbus.

Are we really upset with how a band called "Umphrey's McGee" is naming these cool intro jams?

i dont think anyone in here is "crying", just expressing views on how we see things... I really have no prob with any of the JO names, just to me the 12-30-11 one will always remind me of 12-30-11 and STL

But it was named in Mexico by my friend regarding holidaze.  And has absolutely nothing to do with the band.

I've now listened to this show 3 times the whole way through.  Easily the best show I've seen or heard this year (and maybe last year).  So many great jams.  And no untz or dance shit, rock show just the way I like it.  2 really beautiful jams, one out of the second part of DBK and the other being in august.  Wellwishers is HUGE, hope they keep it up with this song.  Very strong jams in GYMRH, red tape, jajunk (before and after the ADD rock jam) and turn and dub as well.  Honestly not a single weak point in this show.  Great cover selection and huge energy throughout the night.  I don't fluff many shows, but this one is worth it. At least for my taste in music.  I will continue to fluff the shit out of this show probably for the rest of the year.

thats cool man, just saying that in the same way your friend (and you) have a personal connection/memories to that JO and holidaze, i have a connection/memories to that JO in STL and all the fun we had there, so if I was naming that JO, it would reference that run... same kind of thing.
