This is probably the best I've heard Stasik play. It's not easy to trade licks with Jake, but he did it, and he dominated it.

^best sig

I might be one of the only few that likes this venue.  I've had really good experiences every time i've been.  There are no other venues that I know of that they could play at.  Neighborhood Theatre only holds about 1,000.  2 straight sold out shows at the Fillmore (1,900), so playing at the NT is out.

I've got no problems with the Fillmore either.  The sound is good and youve got risers in the back of the room to help with sight lines.  Although standing behind the sounboard is ideal from my experience.  (Mastodon/Opeth will be a shit show here in May)

Like you said Nathan, not sure of any other venues in town that would work at this point.  However, if they ever end up doing a summer show around Charlotte, the Time Warner Uptown Amphitheater would work at 5000 capacity - right next to the Fillmore too.

This show is sounding great on the re-listen.

Connected at the smoking patio!  This was the first show i've seen at the Fillmore where they had the gate open to the stage of the arena.  It was so awesome having all that extra room out there!

And I totally agree, this sounds phenomenal listening to it again!

This was my first show at The Fillmore in Charlotte and I really enjoyed it. We were about center stage in the mid section just a little bit back from the rail. The view of the light show and the sound were great. I also really liked that the stage area of the amphitheater next door was open to the smokers. It gave it so much extra room (compared to what I'm used to at the Tabernacle or the Variety Playhouse). I also liked that it was easy to get into and out of and we were on our way home with no waiting after the show. The free parking was a big plus too (compared to the 20 bucks I spent at Hauntlanta last October) and me and my buddy Josh just hung out in his truck and had a few bears for preshow. I'm downloading the audience recording now and can't wait to re-listen. The UMLive is not available at the moment so I'm guessing they are fixing the track listing issue. I hope that we get an Asheville show soon but I'll definitely be adding Charlotte to my tour schedule from now on.

SF I --> Puppet String sounds exactly like the 12/11/04 intro into HBB.  This was a really good show and I liked baltimore even more.  These guys are on fire.

i'm finally getting around to relistening to this show.

i was really unsober in more ways than one at the show, so it was hard to judge how it was (i've seen 70ish)
i remember being really happy with the amount of improv, their patient approach to much of the night, how they blended things together, and their placement of songs to control the energy in the room.

i also liked how the crowd was into it (and it shows on these aud tapes), and the venue. . .the newness and corporateness of it kinda bugs me, but it sounds great, has pretty good sight lines, and it makes me happy that UM sells out an 1800 person room

i'll edit this later, but. . .

HOLY SHIT RESOLUTION JAM.
they had a 2 minute little blues rock/jazz jam about 1:30 in that was unexpected and pretty cool. then, where norwegian wood would usually come, it went into this long, guitar rock insanity.
listen, listen, listen.

This resolution was so crazy at the show. I kept thinking they were gonna drop back into the song but they just milked that riff at the end and kept hammering on it. 'twas an amazing experience

This Reso is definitely the business.  One of the jams of the year out of that track.  Sounds like they are about to go into Mocca around 11:00 but instead they go off on that huge, evil build-up.  Then around 12:45 it almost sounds like a Halloween Theme jam.

This show is probably one of the best of the year but the 2nd set improv is just slightly disappointing after the fire in Virtue, Reso, and Bottom Half.

I'll agree that the second set improv doesn't quite measure up to the first, but I'm loving the Pony show going on in 3x > 1348.  He steps up big time in both jams.
