The Domino from Portland, ME sold me instantly. Loved it since. It can really go anywhere - really dark and angry, dance party, the funk. Great tune.

So implied jam in SJ or was that a stew? They always seem to jam that part but that had a couple diff sections

for sure. i was just gonna say the transitions into the end of sociable are some of the smoothest transitions that they do (along with red tape).

i'm just happy that it hasn't taken them long at all to give those songs some balls. normally it takes them FOREVER (like a year+) to open new songs up.

Yeah, I talked to Joel about that, and he basically said that with the Mantis group of songs, it was a little more difficult to find consistent lauching points, whereas MV and Domino the energy is already up and they just launch more naturally, he said it was a no-brainer...

for sure, but that also goes beyond the mantis batch of songs. like the bottom half and higgins were played straight up with no variation for so long before they finally got the treatment. those songs kill it now. same with conduit in 2010. i saw like 15 conduits that did absolutely nothing in the span of 8 months before they finally opened it up on the 29th for the NYE run. sometimes i just wish they would go out on a limb more often than they do.

Fair point.

I love the middle riff in this song.  The one off of Jaco's solo album

Was hoping for LMS in Cbus. Last one I caught was Skyline '05. Been about 75 shows. Always seem to miss it by a show or 2.
