Umphrey's Mcgee on the Relix cover
« on: February 14, 2012, 03:39:43 PM »

Great article by Richard Gehr (who did the Phish Book)!
Really nice incite on specific band members and really gave me hope about UM's place in the scene.

Anyone else read it?

Great article by Richard Gehr (who did the Phish Book)!

Richard has been a big fan for some time now, and wrote the short essay for the 10th Anniversary NYE Playbill.

Looking forward to reading the full article. I knew Jake moved to South Bend a while back, but I had no idea that Joel moved to Venice Beach and that Andy moved to Charleston.

Andy's Rib Rub has become a Charleston staple at the BBQ joints in town.

Great read.  Although hearing about the bands personal lives kinda scares me a little bit.  These dudes sound like they are maturing quite a bit and having babies.

heavy touring doesn't sound too promising for the next few years.  I hope I'm wrong

That part about Jake and the possibility of him having to take a chopper into 'Roo is a fuckin' power move.  Ballin'!

Maybe having stable personal lives and less partying results in better performances and longevity?    At any rate, I think its great that the band shared a bit of what is going on with them off the stage right now.  Congrats to Jake, Bayliss, and their families on the impending arrivals.

And as far as them continuing to tour, it's their day job, and they certainly have not given any indication that they are changing that aspect of their careers.  Look at how much time they spent "off" the road last year while still playing over 100 shows.  They seem to plan their tours well with plenty of time off scheduled in between.
