Cost to Book UM?
« on: February 13, 2012, 11:17:46 PM »

Anyone know what it costs to book UM for a show or festival? if they have booking/venue requirements?
I'm sure travel and such is a consideration depending on where they are around the booking date.

any info would be great, thanks!

(I actually tried the search for this thread and found nothing of use)

Wish I would have made it to their last show. I have a feeling they'll be back in a few years though.

TECHNICAL REQUIRMENTS
F.O.H
ARTIST always travels with Front of House Engineer, Kevin Browning.  Kevin will record and archive every show using ARTIST’S own recording equipment, in conjunction with in-house FOH equipment

Speakers: The house audio system must be a stereo three or four way system, flown whenever possible, capable of sustaining a clear, undistorted 110db _A_ weighted SPL at the FOH position. Front fill should be provided on separate power and EQ.  Preferred choices are line arrays by Martin, Meyer, JBL, McCauley or VDosc.

Drive systems, EQ, limiting and crossover/processing should be accessible by Kevin Browning,                                                 our FOH engineer.

Consoles:  FOH console must be a minimum of 40 channels with VCA and 4 stereo returns, matrix outputs and 4 band parametric EQ per channel with sweepable high pass filter.  Preferred desks include Digidesign VENUE, Midas Heritage, XL200, Yamaha 5K.  Please no Yamaha M3000’s.

Outboard:  All EQ should be professional grade 1/3 octave.  Artist requires a minimum of 8 compressors (16 is ideal) and 4 gates.  BSS, DBX, and Drawmer are preferred.  There must be three fx processors: 2 Reverb, 1 multieffect.  Yamaha SPX 990, Lexicon 91,90,80 are preferred for reverbs, Harmonizer for multieffect.

In addition, artist reserves the right to bring in supplemental sound equipment including 22 rack-space recording rig, and 14 rack-space effects rack.   Please have sufficient clean power for all house gear as well as 2 20 amp circuits for F.O.H. engineers use.

Please ensure a spacious, well protected F.O.H. area to comfortably fit all the gear while protecting it from the audience and their voracious beer drinking.
MONITORS
We travel with our own Monitor Console, 40 channel Crest LMX.  All six musicians are on in-ear monitors.  Please provide a minimum of 3 additional monitors with power and EQ’s for possible guest musicians. 1 20 amp circuit required for monitor power.

NOTE: Band does not carry a snake at this time and requires a 40 Channel Split snake with tails long enough to reach F.O.H and monitor world.  (A 20ft. set of tails should suffice)
MISC SOUND
Artist carries almost all their own microphones and DI’s. Please have a handful of mics and DI’s available in case of additional needs.  A plethora of mic stands and cables will be needed.  Please advance with Bob Ston.
LIGHTING
Lighting is an integral part of our show, and we consider it as important as the music.  Without the proper planning and consideration for lighting, our fans and the band do not consider it to be a worthy show.  With that being said, we ask that this section be carefully weighed, and any issues foreseen be brought immediately to our attention during the advance.  If for any reason a requirement cannot be met, Immediately Notify:
   Adam Budney
(773) 426- Cell
adam@umphreys.com
We travel with (4) High End techno beams, (4) Studio Spots 250’s, (1) DF-50 hazer, (1) HOG 500 light board and a Lighting Director Adam Budney, who shall have full use of all in house lighting gear.

We requires one house LD to be on hand no later than one hour after load-in.  They are to assist our LD, Adam Budney, with house power and focusing of lights.  The house LD or Production Manager should contact Adam no later than one week prior to performance for a lighting advance.

For lighting power, we require at least two 20 amp circuits on stage dedicated to lighting, and one additional power source for DF-50 Hazer.  We carry our own DF-50 Hazer which WILL BE USED EVERY NIGHT.  If a in-house hazer exists, please inform us at the time of advance.

We require one data line that runs from stage to FOH to send data to and from lights.  If a dedicated data line is not available for lights, then a single data channel on the house snake to FOH shall be used.

We require a safe and secured area, preferably next to or contained within FOH, to run lights.

BACKLINE
•   In the event that purchaser is to provide backline per the contract at purchaser's sole expense; artist has the option to coordinate for and/or provide its own backline and purchaser agrees to pay artist $1000 at settlement on the night of engagement.
Scope
•   Technical conditions necessary for the performance of the Artist shall be adhered to without exception. If for any reason a requirement cannot be met, immediately Notify:
   Bob Ston
(773) 960  Cell
bob@umphreys.com
•   If the Purchaser is unable to meet a requirement due to his inability to arrange for various services or items, and that service or item can be provided by the sound or light company or their sub-contractors, the Purchaser shall be liable for any and all reasonable fees, charges or other remunerations required to provide said service or item.
