Gulf Stream on the beach wouldn't be so terrible.

It was fitting, I enjoyed it. Great shows all weekend.

looks horribly mediocre.

It was hard to do anything that could hold a candle to Thursday night, especially after pulling out a few biggies for Friday.

That being said it was still a great show. They started about 10-15 minutes early since they got screwed with the weather. Jake had some inspired playing in Words, Gulf Stream was proper placement (also a sendoff for Don), and the horns on Let's Dance was a treat as well.

This was fucking terrific, they crushed just like they did all weekend.  How can you go wring with a thin air>lets dance, a 3x opener, ptp, and im a fan of words. the 1348 was good im pretty sure. I cant wait to relisten to everything.

*and i love august and gulf stream. it was a great song at that time being a send off to don, you could tell it meant alot to everyone in their crew.

triple wide opener with a fatty jam? yeah, really mediocre. 1348 had a great jam. Lets Dance was better than the nye version, Jen and Dom killed it. August jam was very nice as well.

Ptp>Tinkles both had jams. It is rare you get two serperate pieces of improv in an encore.

Free triple wides that have the jam of the night? Yes please.

August had a demolition man jam at the beginning. Let's Dance did sound better than the NYE version too.

1348 also had a really sweet prog riff bounce back to some funky chords but they switched it up too much and never really locked in.

But once again we got a super silky -> the floor

from an improv standpoint the triple wide was definitely the highlight of this set. it started off with that bassline that has been common among triple wides in 2011, but then it turned into sort of a euphoric, uplifting jam. very reminisecnt of the summer camp N1 encore. overall this set was very well played. i loved the let's dance. people were going nuts. this was definitely a nice end to UM's holidaze shows.

Just judging how it looks on paper to me.  I know that tells me nothing about the actual performance.  It'd not a bad set, it just looks like a pretty "standard" show nowadays.  Nothing out of the ordinary.

using the words "horribly mediocre" implies that it was a lot worse then "standard"

only to a RETARD LOL DERRRRR

-------

(mediocrity) averageness: ordinariness as a consequence of being average and not outstanding

(horribly)   In a horrible way; very badly; To an extreme degree or extent; With a very bad effect

Maybe I should have said:

"Extremely Average"

"Very Ordinary"

even if it was an "extremely average" set (i'd put it slightly above average before listening back) it doesn't even matter. we were on a beach with a ton of friends. it was a fucking blast.

touche good sir!  I would love to go some time!

I just remember seeing the set from last year where they busted out SFII, Orfeo, Ninja, and Qbert.    Although, that might put me into cardiac arrest to have all of that fire in one set.

That was a fan voted set (much like one of the quarters at both UMBowls), you can't have the same expectations for a regular show.  And although I really like some parts to that show, it also had the horribly played funk DBK with no improv in between the sections.

1999-2003 is the era of moe.  I enjoy the best, and moe. is awesome.  Why else would UM have covered them in the beginning?

Threadjack:

It's a great song? The band has covered a few artists that I wouldn't necessarily call great simply because of the song choice . . .   (I must say that I quite enjoy 1995, particularly http://www.archive.org/details/moe1995-09-15.eac.flac16. And speaking of Rebubula, version off the top of heads with Dead teases? I can't remember the one version I had . . . )

Jesus fucking Christ

Oh no! Someone who wasn't there thinks a setlist looks mediocre on paper (there was nothing mentioned about a 3x jam at the time)

But...but...but I had an awesome time raging with all my beach bros, you're horribly mediocre!
