I was very surprised that UM kind of got fucked last night. Instead of shortening both bands' sets and splitting difference, pushing the entire schedule back, or cutting down the time in between bands, it was somehow worked out that UM would simply lose an hour and 15 minutes or so of their set. The biscuits even ended up coming on late.

As for the show, the domino theory and resolution jams were fantastic. Can't wait to relisten to them. I believe the intro was the new one from the second night of NYE in STL, but am not 100% sure on that.

Andy said that their set for Sunday will be an all-cover set leading up to their All Night Wrong late night later in the tour. Joel wouldn't confirm when I asked him, but he didn't tell me I had misheard either.

Hmmmmm... an all cover set at Holidaze?  Sounds like a lot of sit-in potential.  Maybe we'll get some Dan with horns?

Is it just me or would anyone else not be very happy if they said that their last set will be an all cover set, while you were down there?. I would be a little bummed out because an all cover set is not something that would appeal to me. I would be ok of it was stated beforehand like before I bought tix(if I were to) nut to announce this while the event is going on isn't the way I think it should be done

Honestly, I wouldn't care too much.  They're definitely going to throw jams in.   I would be more pissed off that they got cut a set when everyone else seemed to not be effected.  I'm sure they could have done a two hour set w/ encore and the Biscuits do the same.  Obviously that could not have been known ahead, but a cover set has some potential.  This is coming from someone that would rather not hear covers at shows.

I'm also not big into covers in general, but as long as there are jams, I'm happy. I also think the crowd will eat it up.

Seeing an all covers set is something special and not something you get many chances to see.  I'm sure the jams will be great.  IMO, it's similar to the all instrumental set at Lincoln Hall this past year as far as how often you get to see something like this.

Personally I'd much rather see an all original set than an all cover set.

Especially after one of their shows got cut in half.  I'm sure if I was in Mexico I wouldnt be complaining at all, but from someone who isn't there, I would probably be a little bummed if the last set of the weekend was an all covers set.  Sure it would be fun, but it's just not the same.

well now Mark has twice the chance of getting a 50 Ways (all cover set + All Night Wrong)... if they don't play it I'm gonna die laughing.

A lot of improv out of the gates. Funky Domino Theory jam. The first Reso jam was my favorite from this show. Everything else was "standard good" Umphreys. Great song selection and what a fun encore.

Domino theory was fantastic. Rehearsed stew for sure but it really got things goin.

I thought 2x2 was exceptional. Not really a full on jam so to speak, but almost like a super drawn out middle part. It got super spacy and ambient with some nice subtle tones and textures that built until the drop back into the evil part.

it definitely sucks that UM got the shaft for this night's show, but i think they delivered the goods to somewhat make up for it. they really came out swinging with the first 4-5 songs. the intro jam (which i love, hadn't heard that one yet) > domino theory (which continues to impress me, nice dance party jam in this one) was sweet. the reso was awesome. 2 big jams. 2x2 is a personal favorite. i'll always take that song. HBB had a big first jam and there wasn't really any sort of second jam (weak), just a big build-up to the composed peak section. wappy had a great progression that could have been fucking huge, but it was aborted for a drums jam (weak). the rest of the show was standard but enjoyable. reso was probably my favorite part from this show.

The first Reso jam is the same chord progression that Jake uses to start up the 1/20/12 DBK before it shifts to the Eastern sounding stuff

Just listened to this and knew it was familiar and recent. Thanks!
I'm up to HBB and so far this is a killer show. Great open improv in 2x2 and the first Bath jam is serious.
