Past couple times I've seen UM inside at the LC (Columbus) its been crazy packed with no sell out.  I'm thinking this year will be a legit sell out

I know they sold the Newport out before, but that place is a little smaller

Tonight (Friday, Minneapolis) sold out. Last night was close.

How close?  Friday night was WAY more crowded than Thursday night.  Night and day really.

Also, First Ave recently remodeled a portion of the club, including removing of a bar, and moving a set of cast iron stairs out of the middle of the floor. That has definitely bumped up capacity.

I was thrilled to see the changes to First Ave on Thursday.  They made the venue so much more enjoyable IMO.  I'm not in the "UM should play somewhere else in Minneapolis" camp anymore.

The additional floor space is a great addition, but I still want UM to move out of there.  Our theaters are so nice!  When a band invests the money and energy into lights and sound like UM does, they shouldn't be playing in a bar.  Let's utilize that shit!

Exaclty! I think that goes for most parts of the country that aren't the "big" markets. I am tired of the shitty bar/concert venues when there are so many great theaters around that I know with this band gaining the steam like they are could easily play.

I recommend getting Charlotte tickets soon.  I believe there will be plenty sold in the upcoming days.

Ok. Not super close . . .  :)  But it was a good Thursday night.
When I asked the waitress she said "It's a couple hundred tickets left" at the beginning of the night.  She did mention that it was very full for a Thursday.

Minneapolis, IMO, qualifies as a big market, not that this was your point. Since 2006 (their first year playing First Avenue), they've done 16 shows there. As far as I know, they haven't played any other venue in that time span, that many times. They've ripped it up at First Avenue for years and it is more than time for them to "graduate" to the Orpheum. I believe it's capacity is 1800 and I'm plenty confident that UM could sellout one night at that venue. I think it would be really cool if they did a night at First Ave > Orpheum. And the venues are a block and a half away from each other so load-in/out wouldn't be too bad. And they'd still be doing a multi-night run in MPLS. And I like that!

Fwiw, we expect the next five shows to sell out, so in case you need a reminder, get your tickets in advance.

In my opinion, the night of week plays a big part in attendance.  In established markets, I can't imagine that the band would have a tough time filling a 2,000-2,500 capacity venue on a Saturday night during the fall/winter/spring anywhere in the midwest, SE, or the Atlantic coast states.  I could be wrong but it seems like the weekend shows I have attended over the past couple years have always been at/over capacity, with the exception being the summer months.

While some of the west-coasters have felt like UM's redheaded stepchild, I will be curious to hear what people say about the attendance for the Saturday night show at the Fox in Oakland?

Wow is the HOB Boston really close? I don't think they have ever sold out a Boston venue before. And last year the 2nd and 3rd levels were almost empty.

It is heading that way, yes. Philly is closer to selling out, but Boston is right behind.

How much longer we have on Denver Fillmore, I would assume this would be a sellout as well?  Only 4 weeks away!

I'm absolutely shocked that Canopy isn't sold out yet. It's the Sunday before a National Holiday.

It's still a Sunday show. And most people I know don't have off on President's Day.

All true, I suppose. Being so far removed from college days, I tend to forget how these types of decisions can depend on funds and friends

Does anyone here know anything about Harlow's in Sacramento? I don't believe UM has ever played in Sacramento before, so I'm assuming that if only one show this Spring doesn't sell it, that might be the one.
