UM GOLD 2011
One of my favorite times of the year. What better way to pay tribute to the fantastic year of music and joy Umphrey's McGee has given us, than by overly-critiquing the whole year!

For those of you who do not know what this is, it's simple and fun. Answer each of these questions and send them to UMGold2011@gmail.com. You can post your picks here, but make sure to email them if you want them to count. Anyone is welcome, the more of us, the better the results are going to be. If I have any of the questions with choices incorrect or missing something, let me know.

Keep in mind, that these questions are labeled as “favorites”, not “best”, so there are no wrong answers, just better choices

Thanks for doing this, bro! You put a lot of work into this, and I don't think you missed much, especially providing links to the stews. The only thing I could see missing from the list, IMO, is "favorite non-Stew jam" for which I'd vote the 2-18 Robot World. Other than that, many kudos!

susannah was played by brendan and jake many times before 30db was even a thing... so i think that should DQ it from 2011 new covers

and GTH should be removed from new original songs from 2011 b/c it used to be part of cold smoke

my favorite stew is from the 11/04 show in 1348 >fucking awesome stew>Morning Song....it's not marked on the setlist as one, but im gonna count it as one.

Has this stew been repeated at all

I don't believe it has, but I agree, I loved that stew. You don't expect 1348 to turn into a beautiful little major section, but it did! then it fizzles out perfectly into morning song

fair enough on GTH... but as for Susannah my point is not whether or not its been debuted this year, but whether or not it is not a cover...

If a song debuted by jake and brendan, credited to an UM side project (30db)is considered a cover, then how aren't songs like SFB, PP, Kabump, GYM(RH) etc also considered covers, they were all originally songs by Ali Baba's Tahini... or do you consider those covers as well?

if those are not considered covers, then Susannah should (by existing standards) be considered original... Jeff Austin had nothing to do with that song, its all BB

Yeah I gotcha, I think there is some objectivity to it though because there are some shows that no one would put down unless it was their only show attended. When looking at the year in review I feel like neither of those categories would really give you what the best of um was, just what people made it to. Then again I get paid to analyze survey data for a living so I'm probably being a nitpicking nancy.
