I'm not a fan of lyrical stews... there, I said it!  I would always rather have some straight up improv, especially in Jajunk.  Jajunk jams rage.
whoaaaaa brooooooooooo watch out now! lyrical stews are fuckin awesome. We were treated with quite a few nice ones this year

I was expecting a few responses like this, and I'm sure I am in the minority, but I dono.  I have seen so many lyrical stews, and the only one that I ever went back to listened to continuously was the 9/14/07 Nemo stew.  Other than that, and the original Pop Tart, lyrical stews have just never really done it for me.

I can some what agree with you on this one. It is cool to go back and listen after a song is created, but alot of the time it's just unpolished

CL, Domino, Linear, Floor are how you start an f'ing show! Cannot get enough of this sickness.  After many listens, this is challenging the Wally, Nemo, Ninja for the best flow of songs during the run, for me. Unless of course you count the Intro through Late in the evening one.

Definitely gonna have to disagree with you. First and third set of this show are by far the weakest of the run IMO.

lol at unpolished.

A majority of the time these are "songs" made up ON THE SPOT. It is the ultimate form of improv. I think it is one of those really cool rewards we get for seeing the band so many times.

No problem.  I understand your impression of the 3rd set. Seemed like the band was impatiently waiting for the countdown and seemed complacent once it happened.  My past experiences with NYE shows have always been that way. Although, I did love the hangover. But please explain your feelings about the first set 'cause that shit was FIRE!

It's not that I didn't enjoy the first set, in fact I loved the Domino opener. But the linear is just ok and that version was nothing special IMO (maybe I need to give it another listen). I always enjoy The Floor, Kabump, and Divisions as well but they weren't really that memorable (I know I need to re-listen to the Kabump as well). Again, Im not saying the set was bad my any means, just not as good as the the first four or the second from that night

The segue from Linear -> The Floor has got to be one of the smoothest I have seen.

It's funny, because looking back at the setlist, a lot of the songs are ones I have heard many times before.  Had I not been there I would have thought "meh."

But, unless you're a curmudgeon, it's impossible to not have a good time on NYE.

I had a blast!

Finally getting around to listening to this run. I started with this night because it was my 50th show and I remember the opener and pieces of Ocean Billy and that's all.

I must say that The Linear > The Floor is one of my favorite/ the best segues I've ever heard. It ranks right up there with Push The Pig > Tinkles 12-30-09 for me definitely.

I'm really diggin' this Kabump. I got heavy into this song after the Crossroads version (7-2-11) and I hadn't heard it since my first new years run back in '08. I'd love to see this song more often that's for sure.

I'm in it for a second.  Most of the pics, and the balloon drop were shot from the section I was in all weekend.  Memphis crew + Springfield, IL crew, held it the fuck down!

The Hampton Inn front desk told me they were taking care of the charges for last night's room because of the key fiasco.  Here's to a nice credit card refund.  Hope it happens.

Just thought I'd update this to let you all know that I just deposited my ~$125 refund check from the Hampton Inn.   :wook:

Hope a video of this run is put out by the band.

Ya I was pretty pumped to hear at check out that the 31st was free. It wasn't even an inconvenience. Somehow this lady was able to unlock our room instantly while the whole floor was still stuck outside their rooms.

A little late in uploading this, but I am now finally moving things around off the camera...

The Morning Song they dropped on the 29th was dropped on the 31st as well. Makes sense it was played at Ft. Lauderdale.

No Forks, but I don't think anybody is complaining about that.

Everything else was as is.
