« on: December 29, 2011, 04:57:17 PM »

Hey-O, so since I know a lot of you folks... and you all live and breathe live music might as well ask your input on venues to look into for touring: solo acoustic and with my electric trio.

your help is greatly appreciated!

Just you, or a full band? There are of a number of places in Asheville that cater to acoustic music.

Solo with some guests, but definitely more acoustic based this run. Trying to lay some groundwork for a full band tour later this spring/summer

Solo stuff is a hard pitch in Asheville, and is usually relegated to cafes, bakeries, and the like; not the kind of places that really allow for much groundwork. I work w/ a bunch of local musicians and will try to see if there's anywhere more substantial.

Will,
Do you have a recording of this line up or the tunes to be performed? Could probably help out in Columbia on your off nights.

Hey Cory, Thanks for the offer. I sent you a DM. I was trying for The White Mule in Cola, but they've recently closed. Looking at Tin Roof right now. I haven't played Columbia since 2003-2004 and then I was playing Delaney's & Mellow Mushroom. This tour is going to be solo for the most part, but I'll have an additional guitarist with me on a few dates. smile.shift.speak under the Sounds tab at http://willmccranie.com is more acoustic based material. I've also got a ton of covers in my repertoire if there's a chance to do a multi-set/full night type gig.

Rhythm and Brews in Chattanooga. Solid venue, I think it holds between 400 and 500 at the most. Chattanooga is 2 hours from both Atlanta and Nashville, and only 3.5 from Asheville. There's also the newly opened Track 29, if you're looking for something a little larger. That place can accommodate up to 1,800, but the stage is moveable, if you need more intimacy.

hey will, looks like you've got a solid run put together. sorry i didn't get back to you: i started asking around work, and then got caught up w/ pre-holidaze excitement. the LAB is a great spot. good food, on-site brewery, usually packed Th-Sat. know what time you'll be playing?

Thanks Chad, I'm on around 9-9:30 I believe. Stoked for Asheville as Kevn is one of my favorite musicians/writers!
