The $2 drinks are sold at the VIP bar (obviously you need to be VIP to access it)
Otherwise, drinks are closer to $5.
You can buy individual drinks whether you're VIP or not, they're just cheaper when you are.
I forget how much 12 packs are for VIP campers, but they're around $25 for non-VIPs.
Also, one of the nights (Friday I think?), VIPs party with all the confiscated booze at the end of the night.

I usually sneak in a bottle or two. One inside my sleeping bag, one rolled up with my tent or something. I haven't been caught once. Like everyone says every single year...just be smart about it. Pack it up and see if your friends can tell it's in there. And if the volunteer starts snooping, have a 10 or 20 ready to hand them to stop.

As this will be my first scamp I have a question for the vets.

Is VIP worth it? I've heard the one big draw is parking? What's the deal here, you can't camp near your car or some jazz? Can I get a little clarification from you guys on this. Other than the poster late night blablabla what do you really get with A VIP upgrade

i did vip the last 3 years and ive always thought it was worth the extra money. price has been going up so its not the incredible value it once was. you get the thursday ticket and a late night included so thats like $60 of real value.  for the other ~$120 you get:
-easier/quicker entry when you get to festie. vip parking lot  is much close/easy to get to (no camping near cars) than GA lot  so bring stuff to/from campsite is way easier.  seeing the GA line to get in has always made me happy we were vip.
-less thorough search of bags. my move has always been beer on bottom of cooler, layer of ice, food & water packed on top. never had an issue.
-cheap drinks and sat night they give away much of confiscated beer for free in vip bar. wyllys set in the vip bar on sat night is usually good times.
-camp near less riff raff, although last year, the fence separating VIP was trampled by the time i set up camp thursday.  still felt like my stuff was safer.
-there are flushing toilets and showers as well. they are in portable trailers but better than portajohns and while lines for shower can be long, it can be worth it. the poster isnt the real festival poster and it usually sucks. last year i got a moe. travel coffee mug and an official live release (3cds) that was decent which were cool.
-oh, also vip viewing areas with bleachers at 2 main stages. was clutch at moe stage last year with all the rain, but vip area at UM stage was overrun and wasnt really vip all weekend.

this year we are getting an RV. going to cost a little more than vip but im looking forward to doing something a little different.

The best reason for folks that bring in their own items. Like wine.... Plus parking, late nite lock etc.

My wine comes in bags so getting it in will be/was easy. My sleeping bag is going to be lined with Franzia.

Two years ago I was able to bring in a decent sized :bong: with the help of a few Houdini like tactics.

I basically unpackaged and emptied out an entire bag of charcoal(You need a big bag) very carfully. Then wrapped up my :bong:  real good with plastic bags/etc. Put it inside the empty bag of Charcoal. It is crucial that you take the bag apart careful enough to where you can easily glue everything back together. Loaded a little bit of charcoal to at least make it feel like a bag of charcoal. Put everything back together.

Boom Shaka Laka. I don't think I even saw security's eyes look at the bag of charcoal. Good luck!

So I'm glad they added Afternoon Moon yesterday but most these artist additions are underwhelming. Enough with the washed up bands already...

I don't know if it was luck of the draw or just that security doesn't care/ wana deal with it.  But in ...'08? i think one of my buddies non shalntly brought his :bong: (which was about a 3 ft'er) and put it in the cardboard box it came in and plopped it right on top of his waggon.  At security check the guy grabbed the cardboard box, carefully pulled the bong from it, took a look and said "niiiice, have a good one" and then proceeded to not check anything else.  This is not something i would ever suggest the kid prolly just got lucky as hell that it didn't get swipped, but he got a away clean.

And then another story all together, the kid must have been unknowingly sprayed by a stranged at some point on Friday.  Because early in the afternoon he totally unexplicably lost it, thought that the festival was over (even though there was music playing) and gathered as much of his stuff as he could carry, including the  :bong:, and sprinted to the parking lot.  He apparently then ran through the rows of cars lost and leaving a trail of all of his belongings.  He returned to camp about 5 hours later saying that he awoke in two random cars, both of which were full of strangers. And after the second car had enough of a head to know where to go.  He told us his story and we began to scour the parking lot.  Most of his clothes and stuff was found, i think just 1 shoe is still MIA.  But after a long search i finally found a cardboard box tucked away under a car. And there it was still in tact. Crazy experience for everyone involved.

Ive always gone the way of charcoal, thats the one thing they don't even touch.  My routine has always been, empty the bag, fill a garbage bag with beer/ handles of booze, surround garabage bag with charcoal and reseal the bag.  Goes without a hitch every year.  But my new technique is my personal favorite.  Step one, purchase VIP ticket, step two load all of the booze onto a gold cart, step 3 have a summer camp volunteer/ employee drive all of the booze to my camp site  :beers:

Played in a very funky band in 2010.  His brother reggie wooten was on the guitar, some sick white boy on keys, and the drummer was unbelievable.  I think they were my favorite show from 2010 and I am really pumped to see them again.

Oh he does. The flecktones play play many shows though. Without Wooten the flecktones would not exist.
