I definitely have those radio things downloaded. They came on my shuffle a while ago

I found them.

First one is pieces of Red Tape intro > Preamble > CW first verse > Spires bridge

Second one is pieces of 1348 odd meter riff > 1348 end of verse > CW II.

I was 21 and had just moved to Colorado in August 08 when Mantis came out. I remember this as my first multi night run outside of the Midwest and still fondly think of it as my favorite for that reason. Mantis is tied with Anchor Drops as far as their best album is concerned.
Crazy how much happens in a decade.

Great thread!  Thanks for reminding me what an amazing album this is!!!
I remember listening to it as I moved from Chicago to Florida back in 08/09.  I dusted it off this week for my final move away from Florida.
Ahh, good stuff.

Such a different time.  I remember being at the Vic album release show, the day Obama was inaugurated on MLK day.  MLK samples in the AIT.  Lot of optimism for the country and the progression of the band.  '09 was a good year.
that show was awesome. they were still riding the high from NYE at the auditorium which was a killer run. what a great time to be a UM fan, definitely a memorable era.

Yeah, for a webcast album release show, that show had some extremely HQ improv. Triple Wide/Nemo/Alex's mashup was great, that Tinkle's is severely overlooked, IMO, and the AiT closer is also excellent.

That was back when lots of people seeing something didn't necessarily mean it had to be phoned in and shitty

A lot of these songs are among my favorites but I think Iíve only ever seen CW, Red Tape, Turn & Run, and M2M.  Would love to get Spires, Mantis, and CW2 next Saturday in Portland.  Especially Mantis.

10 years after the fact and I'm still in love with this album, it's just constructed so well and flows amazingly. I remember it being semi-controversial among the fans when it dropped. Lots of people didn't like the direction of it/the band. Probably my favorite album behind SIN to be honest

For sure it was controversial. I was a new-ish fan and loved it. I got the preorder but don't think I ever downloaded the extras  :banghead:

I remember reading the old bort throughout 2009 and people mostly seeming upset when Mantis songs showed up on the setlist. Things sure have changed.

I think the complaining was mainly due to the frequency and lack of improv. UM always has new songs in the mix, usually 1 or 2. Here they dropped 10 new songs, that hadn't been road tested, and played 3-5 nearly every night of the tour. Also, fuck anything new, bring back Nachos.

I have the best memories of chilling on my buddies deck, listening to this record on repeat.  Smoking, drinking beers, heavy feels of emo Bayliss laying down the truth.  The song Mantis was a deep cut. We loved that track. Canopy shows in 09 were a blast.

I did some good 09 shows.
Memphis > NYC > Summer Camp > Canopy > Halloween in Yosemite > NYE

That Memphis show sticks out. I snuck into soundcheck, nobody said anything faf.  One of the best AiT, turbo 3x, Eminence front bustout.  Killer show. I made good friends down there.
