2/8/19 August
There was a show on Friday?

Sure was. Big Nemo and August with a Hanging Chads bust out

https://youtu.be/9TmRlcFbe9Y

Can't tell if joking or not about 2/8 show. I get jokes

He's joking because me and gatroe played an acoustic UM set last week and Ryan appears to have made the sensible choice and removed it from youtube lol. It still exists on a certain terrible UM FB group if you look for it.

Milwaukee Yoga Pants. Short but very sweet

This stood out to me as well.

Very solid jam but JOTY worthy?

2/2 Great American is an even better soaring/raging peak jam for me...

White Pickle definitely not JOTY, but Its one of the few jams from this year I've listened to multiple times.

Agreed. They’ve been getting more improv heavy 2017-now IMO. Last two years were a little funk/rock based and they seem to be going more in the 2013-2014 realm stylistically right now.

I've been feeling the same way myself.  2015 was lame until summertime.  2016 was really meh, but they've stepped it up in '17 and '18 and what I've heard in '19 so far.  It does remind me of '13-'14.

I love the hell out of the 1/31 RW, though.  Very Tool-sounding.

Listen here, I've heard two shows before his time, two with him, and I don't know how to play a single musical instrument. I'm an expert.

It is the jam I've listened to most, not JOTY but this is the stuff I go into shows hoping to see. I'd certainly take it over a few on the list.

Need to listen back, but after hearing it live I think the 1348 from last night deserves a spot on this list

Richmond OB and Robot World are really the only ones that standout to me so far, and I think the OB is a level up on the Robot World, which was def cool.  Kind of excited to hear this 1348 from last night now.

I'd say Little Gift belongs up there too.  Both jams are absolutely incredible.

Plunger for sure. Bridgless was pretty noodley I wouldn't add it. Mantis from last night could probably be added.

Mantis for sure, although I prefer the Plunger overall. Also, I would squeeze 2/14 1348 in that list personally. I loved the way that jam dissolved from the major section to the minor section.

I think last night’s Mantis is my favorite of the year now. Love how much ground it covered and how patient it was. Felt like something from 2011.

This Mantis was incredible.  Right now I'd say it's Mantis with Plunger as a close second.

On board with Mantis Joty so far. How many double digit minute improv jams are there this year?

That plunger is way overhyped from this last run. Mantis is great and definitely some of the best playing this year so far.

Won't say the Plunger is dissapointing, because I applaud the effort going into the jam, but the first 8 minutes of the jam is pure nonsense.

I really really disagree. I normally hate the cshore approved jams but there's something about the beginning of the plunger that really fucking does it for me. Jake's "nonsense", as you put it, juxtaposed against the dark whatever the fuck repetitive tapping shit bayliss is doing everytime Jake cuts out and goes silent is just so god damn cool.

Yeah.  All thud plus the Joel creepiness on the Prophet

Actually think the peak on this one is kinda generic though.

I listened to the Plunger once and it didn't do much for me, the uplifting peak was cool but nothing too special
