OB still leading the charge IMO. Robot and Attachments (surprised this jam isn’t more liked) runner ups so far, and I’d probably also say MKE HBB between the two jams is up there somewhere.

RW would be a clear leader for me right now if Jake wasnt so horrendously out of tune/flat. Totally takes me out of it at certain points. Great themes, riffs; Bayliss ftfw with the ascending octaves around 7:45 or so.

OB is the leader right now, imo. Also huge fan of 1/18 Attachments. Love it when Jake and Stasik “talk” to each other and that Taurus bassline at the end is money

I only notice Jake being out of tune in that last peak. I think he realized it too. Jake's a smart guy and I don't get why he doesn't understand that drop tuning on a floating bridge means something's probably gonna go out of tune elsewhere. And yeah that Bayliss line is money.

RW and OB are 1A and 1B for me so far. I really like IDM from Portland too.

If I still made stew mixes, the following winter tour jams would be locks:
1/11 Mantis
1/12 Ocean Billy
1/15 FF
1/15 Jajunk
1/16 August (Jam Cruise sets are solid!)
1/19 Draconian
1/25 Hindsight
1/31 DBK 2nd (though I will admit this one isn't for everyone)
1/31 Robot
1/31 Virtue
2/2 Bridgeless
2/2 It Doesn't Matter

This is the 2nd mention of that 1/19 Draconian so I'm adding it.

I also love that Hindsight jam (easily the best version of the song) though I wish they milked the peak even more.

I think a lot of jams this year are in the almost-JOTY-worthy-but-not-quite territory.

The theme so far with 2019 improv seems to be weird/scary/experimental; not a ton of straightforward Jake peak jams.  The band is definitely digging into the extended improv a lot more than 2014-16 and it's interesting to see them get out there.

Agreed. They’ve been getting more improv heavy 2017-now IMO. Last two years were a little funk/rock based and they seem to be going more in the 2013-2014 realm stylistically right now.

Which is exactly what we all wanted. Fall '13 provided some serious highlights and since then we've been getting cock rocked every single night until the mood changed. SS'd

I don’t know if I agree. The last 2 years have already been significantly less cock rock if you ask me.

I have to agree. The 1/31 Robot is awesome but I think the sheer uniqueness and how far out there they got with that OB makes it the leading contender for me.

I would add 2/1 Maybe Someday to this list. The jam is great (especially for this time early in its “career” as a jam vehicle) even if the transition back to the last composed section is botched. Love what Joel does in this one
